Professionals Partnering and Increasing Their Responsibility to Help Stem our National Crisis in Home Safety

Class includes top professionals from the interior design, design/renovation, home building, real estate and medical industries.

Columbus, OH (September 28, 2016) – Rosemarie Rossetti, Ph.D. and her husband Mark Leder just received the designation, Certified Living In Place Professional™ from the Living In Place Institute.™ They are honored to now be a part of the solution to improving independence and dignity for all homeowners by sharing their skills to identify safety concerns and recommend solutions in any home, regardless of the homeowner’s age or needs. Rossetti said, “I am looking forward to offering home accessibility and safety advice to consumers and design professionals.” Leder says, “My clients, and their homes, will benefit from my new designation and my passion for helping them by recommending design solutions and products to enhance safety in the home.”

“It was an honor and pleasure to welcome Rossetti and Leder as respected professionals who participated in the recent CLIPP™ class,” says Louie Delaware, Co-Founder of the Living In Place Institute with Erik Listou, course instructor. The class was held in Rossetti and Leder’s nationally acclaimed demonstration home, the Universal Design Living Laboratory www.udll.com in Columbus, OH. This home was crafted with an emphasis on accessibility and lifelong livability.

Delaware says, “Like many housing professionals, Rossetti and Leder share a concern for home accessibility and safety. Most homes were built without proper attention to accessibility and safety risks that increase home accidents. They are professionals leading our communities and the nation to ensure the safest and most accessible living conditions possible. Once certified, CLIPP trained professionals can thoroughly and quickly identify, report and recommend home modifications that improve independence and dignity for all home occupants, regardless of their age or needs.“

Rossetti and Leder speak nationally and work with design and building professionals and consumers who want to create inspired and livable homes. Leder was the general contractor of the Universal Design Living Laboratory. Their business is Rossetti Enterprises Inc. www.RosemarieSpeaks.com

“When my husband and I designed our home, the Universal Design Living Laboratory, we included features that would make our home livable for our lifetime,” says Rossetti. “Accessibility, independence and safety were primary considerations in the design, as well as in the products we selected for our home.”

Universal Design provides the architectural framework for homes geared toward all walks of life, and provides hope to older individuals looking to remain in their homes as long as possible.

Rossetti is an internationally recognized speaker and advocate for people with disabilities. Along with her husband, Mark Leder, she has spearheaded the Universal Design Living Laboratory, a national project to help people better understand how to create a more comfortable living environment that will enhance their quality of life. She is the author of the Universal Design Toolkit.
